Sandbox — coming soon
What the sandbox is for
Section titled “What the sandbox is for”Test your integration against an isolated copy of the Dakoty API using fictional companies and contacts. Its base URL will be https://sandbox-api.dakoty.com/api/v1/public. Sandbox data is separate from production; never upload real customer data, payment credentials or production keys.
Keys and first request
Section titled “Keys and first request”Sandbox keys start with dk_test_; production keys start with dk_live_. A key works only in its own environment. Using a live key in the sandbox (or a test key in production) returns HTTP 401 with WRONG_ENVIRONMENT.
After launch, and once you have received a sandbox key, the first request will be:
curl https://sandbox-api.dakoty.com/api/v1/public/me \ -H "Authorization: Bearer $DAKOTY_SANDBOX_KEY"A successful request returns HTTP 200 and identifies the fictional sandbox organization. Key issuance from the CRM and per-organization provisioning are still being prepared; there is no sandbox activation button to use today.
Demo data and limits
Section titled “Demo data and limits”The initial shared demo dataset will reset nightly at 02:00 UTC. Changes to demo business data and webhook subscriptions will be lost; do not use it as persistent storage. The demo key remains valid across resets. Initial limits are 60 requests/minute per key and 300/minute per organization; respect Retry-After on HTTP 429. See errors and rate limits.
Email and SMS are not sent. Payments, AI/OCR, external integrations, file/PDF services and a sandbox CRM interface are not included in this initial release. Outgoing HTTPS webhooks are real HTTP requests: use a receiver that you control, never a customer endpoint. See webhooks and signature verification.
Availability
Section titled “Availability”This page documents the prepared sandbox design, verified on 17 October 2026; it does not certify a live deployment. Availability will be announced here after deployment and smoke tests. Production data and production credentials are never needed to try the sandbox.
